PE Premium 2023/24
The PE Premium is additional funding from the Government in order to improve the provision of physical education and sport in primary schools. This funding is jointly provided through the Departments of Education, Health and Culture, Media and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to schools to be spent on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.
This funding can only be spent on provision for PE and sport. Schools are accountable for how the additional funding is used to support pupils progress and participation in PE and sport. We are required to publish on-line information about how we have used the additional funds, including details about our sporting provision alongside curriculum details. This will ensure that parents/carers and others are made fully aware of the sporting provision at Dawpool.The Department for Education (DfE) have commissioned a website reporting tool for schools to evidence the impact of the PE Premium. All schools with 17 or more primary-aged pupils will receive a lump sum of £16000 plus a premium of £10 per pupil.
For the academic year 2023-24, Dawpool received £17778 of Sports Funding.
Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer. There are 5 keys indicators across which schools should demonstrate an improvement:
Key Indicator 1: The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity (Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that primary school children undertake at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day in school)
Key Indicator 2: The profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement.
Key Indicator 3: Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and Sport.
Key Indicator 4: Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.
Key Indicator 5: Increased participation in competitive sport.
Dawpool is proud to work in partnership with Clare Mount Specialist Sports College to deliver the outcome of the PE Premium.
It is also used to enable ELSA staff to provide SEMH support for individual pupils as required. The funding is used to develop Forest School Activities, provide CPD for staff, to fund PE equipment and to improve storage to preserve resources in the future.
