Year 1 Home Learning

Hi everyone
First of all I am sending you all a hug as that is what we would do if we were together in school! Each day I will log on to say good morning! We will have reading workshop activities and Maths and a task related to our topic or Science, Art etc. I want you to imagine I am in your house with you, teaching you like I do in school. Imagine sitting on the carpet and learning with each other. You can chat to your parents or brothers and sisters-it will be like having new talking partners! Parents-please don't worry if you don't get through all of the tasks. Break them up into manageable chunks and build in brain breaks as we do in school. Don't try to recreate the school day as it will be stressful for you and the children. Do as much as you can but please don't get worried if you don't accomplish everything I have set. Be kind to yourself and the children and enjoy this time together. I will try to make things as fun as possible, with a variety of things to do, but please bear with me as I get to grips with the technology and how to best tailor the learning activities to work online. Please feel free to email me if anything is not clear or you need any help or to show me your fantastic work. Remember that Mrs Whibley and I love you very much and you are in our thoughts all the time! We will get through this together and be back together again soon. Much Love Lynne Young
This weeks Bingo words:

Year One's celebration of home learning!
Maths w/b 1.6.20
I will put on the Singapore maths plans for the week. They are straightforward to follow and will help you understand how to deliver the Maths objectives to the children. I will put on any resources to help you and you can use things you have at home for resources. This week we will continue our topic on time. We will revise o clock and half past and move on to quarter past and quarter to and timing activities.  I have also uploaded the Fluent in five questions we start each day with. We do one page each day. The children usually write their answers on whiteboards but you can write them on paper or in your maths book. Discuss with your maths partner (your parent!) how you will work them out. There is usually something on the screen to help you. Don't worry if you don't have all of the apparatus to work out the problems-try different ways to solve the problems! I know you are all super mathematicians! You can do one each day and the answers are on the next page. Have fun!
Find below a list of books selected for children in Year 1 (aged 5-6) of average reading ability. If your child is a competent reader or has read all these titles then try the books from the Year 2 list. The list aims to promote reading for pleasure with quality texts that are perfectly pitched for the age group and the curriculum.
